List December #2

TOP 10 YOUNG FUTBOL PLAYERS

List December Contributor: Devin

We have become a soccer-hating nation. And, lets be honest, I have never met a person who hates soccer more than Dustin. So, obviously the best option for kicking off my portion of top ten December would be to list the most exciting young soccer players out there today. For the sake of the list, lets say 23 and younger. Also, I am referring to European soccer players...because all of the good ones play in Europe.

I know all you millions of readers have been waiting for the first soccer blog post. So, here it is - along with some videos. If you have some time, take a look. But, don't be a hater - after all, this is the beautiful game!:

10. Jozy Altidore - Villareal, USA - Ok, so, here is token American soccer player

9. Pato - A.C. Milan, Brazil
- "the duck" is pretty young and good.

8. Giuseppe Rossi - Villareal, Italy - So, Rossi grew up in New Jersey but apparently thinks he is from Italy because his last name is Rossi. He's still a pretty good up and comer.

7. Bojan Krkic - Barcelona, Spain - Bojan hasn't had the best year so far. mainly because stupid Henry is taking his playing time. But, he is only 18, and he's good, and larissa likes him...which is good enough for #7

6. Karim Benzema - Lyon, France - Benzema has been labelled the next great Frenchman, or the next Zidane (remember him? - head butt guy - here is a video to jog your memory...the best ever!)

Anyways - here is a video of Benzema

5. Sergio Ramos - Real Madrid, Spain - Ramos may be the best young defender out there. I personally think he is half man/half horse; at least that's what it looks like to me.

4. Christiano Ronaldo - Manchester United, Portugal
- Ronaldo is cocky, all about himself, is a flopper, and is pretty fricking good. He is fast, and fun to watch. Oh, and he just won the Balloon D'Or award, aka - the best player in futbol. Why is he only #4 then? I don't know, good question. Watch the video - he is fun to watch.

3. Cesc Fabregas - Arsenal, Spain - the next great midfielder...newly promoted captain - and he is only 21. Please come back to Barcelona...

2. Sergio "Kun" Aguero - Athletic Madrid, Argentina - "Kun" is about to explode all over the futbol world.

1. Leo Messi - Barcelona, Argentina - Messi! He's the best ever. Watch his video. really. (at least start the video at 4:15 and watch the best goal ever scored)

Hope this added some spice to Mount St. Dustin

That concludes list #2 for December.

I think little Ronaldo should be no. 1----do you really hate soccer? Do you often refer to yourself in 3rd person?

Dustin said...

Haha, no Mary. Devin posted this list. He's a guest poster for the month!

Dustin said...

well wait. Yes I hate soccer. No, I don't refer to myself in the third person.

Mary - this is devin - i posted that blog post...as a guest blogger...

Dustin does hate soccer. and he hated my blog post.

also, i can see ronaldo being #2, but not #1 ahead of messi. Messi makes all his teammates better...ronaldo seems to only play for himself. that's why i wouldn't put him #1

Mary said...

Understand that-I just loved watching him during Eurocup this last summer.

And by the way Dustin--every other sport except soccer makes ME fall asleep.....so there!

Dustin said...

"So There" - those are the kinds of arguments that blogs were created for! I love it.

mary - i too love watching ronaldo play. he is one of the most exciting players to watch. ...all those stepovers...

"Why Soccer?????"

I'll tell you why:

It is beautiful and full of passion. No one ever scores 93 points in soccer-every little thing matters. The men are gorgeous-even when they are not.
The whole world loves Futball.
Have you been to a Portland Timbers game? The fans are amazing.

Go to Europe during World Cup-it will change your life-it did mine.

Sigh. You people....you just don't get it...

Mary said...

So you know...that "You people" was said in the same way as "That one over there" during the pres. debates...

well said mary!

Ronaldo doesn't make his teammates better? Premier League title and Champions League last year says different. And where is Fernando Torres on this list? He is by any experts standards one of the top 3 young players out there right now...finishing 3rd behind Ronaldo for the Ballon D'or.

devin said...

not to get technical on you Anonymous, but Torres is 24 - i did say that this list would include 23 and under players. Torres is good though

i would beg to differ about ronaldo. winning the premier league and champions league doesn't make you a good team player. it just means you're on a good team.

When he was asked if he should win the Balloon D'or, he commented that he was the 1st, 2nd and 3rd best player in the world.

i am not saying he isn't good...i am just valuing players more who make everyone around them better...which i don't see so much with him.

devin said...

by the way - reveal yourself anonymous...i don't know many people who know their soccer...

Anonymous said...

There is a reason you can't find people who know soccer...it's a terrible sport.

devin said...

tyler - you have to have a certain level of sophistication to enjoy watching soccer. just sayin...

Anonymous said...

Class and sophistication are exactly what I think of when I think of soccer fans!

Well, since links apparently don't work in this format, I'll give you a brief summary:

A fan shot a soccer player in the back with a ROCKET after a loss!

Sophistication indeed!

devin said...

tyler

i made no claims about the sophistication of soccer fans. fans, short for "fanatics," do stupid things.

i am talking about the sport of soccer, in and of itself. so, unless you can point out an un-sophistication of the sport of soccer, then we'll both agree that soccer is for sophisticated minds only.

Anonymous said...

Ahh, I misinterpreted. The game of soccer itself is sophisticated you say.

To that I would say, any sport where flopping is an accepted part of the game, that game is not all that sophisticated.

devin said...

ok tyler. i'll give you that. flopping is lame. i hate it. stupid soccer drama queens.
