Last night could Paul Pierce have been a bigger drama queen?
Seriously? Could he have?
I doubt it. After writhing in horrific pain and being wheeled off the court in a wheelchair to the groans of Celtics fans everywhere who saw their NBA Finals run coming to an end, after five brief minutes in the locker room, who comes running out of the tunnel?
We all know the answer.
I just don't understand professional athletes and their ridiculous reactions to minor injuries. I never will.
But one thing is for sure, his whole scheme to get the crowd into it worked. When he came out, the place erupted and the Celtics never looked back.

is your hatred of boston sports inspired by dwelling in a second hand sports city, supporting inept second city franchises and being a lifelong fan of a worthless big ten school? or are the sources of your rage more mysterious?
It's funny because despite this post (which is just a sampling of the over the top injury antics of prof. athletes) I'm actually rooting for Boston to win. I feel no hatred towards Boston or the Celtics. The Patriots are obviously a different story, but that is just because of who the Patriots are, not the city itself. I also don't mind the Red Sox, i would take them any day over the Yankees.
But yes, some of this probably comes from living in a Triple A baseball/mid level NBA city.
As bad as Pierce was, it's still nothing compared to what you see from soccer players, especially in the World Cup.
could anyone in the entire world know any less about sports than you?
Please stick to music, theology and beer!
all of your insight into those topics can be lost in light of your views on sports.
Actually I think it is because you have followed the worst franchise in the history of sports your entire life.
I am assuming that all lifelong Cubs fans have thought down was up, white was black, bad was good and darkness was light for 100 years and see no truth in sport related endeavors.
If it turns out he has any type of sprain I will expect an apology on this website.
I hope you have a nice day. tell me what to listen to and drink- I will listen.
:)heh:)
I'm not sure how this has anything to do with "knowing about sports".
But you can't possibly say that the whole deal wasn't overly dramatic. Even if he did sprain his knee, don't you think that was a little much? Be honest.

i'm not a huge celtics homer, but pierce has been a remarkably durable player over the years who has been almost injury free. i think that the assumption that a hyper-competitive player who is participating in his first finals against his childhood team, would take a fake fall in order to manipulate the game or crowd is a little far fetched. the simplest solution is usually the correct one, right?
of course, if pierce did manipulate the whole thing his little tragi-comedy wouldn't be nearly as absurd as the fact that fukudome is a leading vote getter in the NL all-star race. again, not to be a homer, but ludwick would be a far more reasonable choice. i'm starting to think that we need to throw out 2/3 of all japanese votes.
"i think that the assumption that a hyper-competitive player who is participating in his first finals against his childhood team, would take a fake fall in order to manipulate the game or crowd is a little far fetched. the simplest solution is usually the correct one, right?"
Actually the more difficult reading is preferred right? (boy that was nerdy huh?) Yeah, I was joking about him planning it out to manipulate the crowd, but I totally think he was over-selling the extent of the injury as I think many athletes do.
Oh Fukudome. Although, he has had some clutch plays and is a consistent batter and good outfielder. Nothing over the top, but he gets the job done. But yes, his being an adorable Japanese character who can't speak a lick of English is definitely the number one reason of him leading the polls. He's a great novelty act but I don't really see him as an all-star.
paul pierce is kind of chubby if you ask me...and a drama queen...
so is ginobli and leo messi and all the rest of the soccer players. everyone's a drama queen. pierce, tim duncan, kobe, chad johnson, albert pujols...
and by the way...as soon as someone says "i'm not a homer, but..." it immediately should tip everyone off that that person IS a homer.
when did all these boston fans get so hypersensitive!!????
Being a former "soccer player"...I agree with John's assesment of us wusses. And Pierce's reaction was classic "world cup flopping"...I think I'll stop using "quotes"now.
