Summer Hiking Adventure #2

Today Kelli and I drove over to the coast and hiked up Neahkahnie Mountain. This is a mountain that is rumored to have lost treasure left by Spanish sailors from the 1700's. This is also the place where the Tillamook tribe believed their god resided. We didn't see either, but it still remained a beautiful view from the top.

We did find a metal box with several small notebooks in it so Kelli left a message for us.

Then we just went down to the beach and checked out some cool rocks. There were a TON of surfers there today but not much surf.

The rest of the pics here!

Next Saturday: Larch Mountain Crater

yeah, the time is growing nearer to child #1, that's for sure. Most of that can be attributed to ALL of the babies at Evergreen!

Check the snow conditions before you try larch mountain crater. They don't maintain the road and my friends ran into a ton of snow and a closed road last weekend. A open road still might mean snow on the trail. Anyway, its worth doing certainly and the view from Sherrard Point is the best in the gorge.

Did you try calling the number on the lid? :)

wow, i didn't even think of that Andrew. I just searched it online and it looks like you're right. sounds like some fallen trees have blocked the trail. that one may need to wait until later in the summer.
