"Pelosi and Hoyer repeated that in the first 100 legislative hours of the new Congress that convenes in January, they will try to pass bills that directly affect the pocketbooks of working-class and middle-class people, including raising the minimum wage, cutting interest rates for student loans and allowing the Medicare program to negotiate lower drug prices." www.cnn.com

You mean the new congress aren't going to lower taxes for the rich? Who knows if this will happen or not, but thank God, finally someone with some sense!

Come on. Apparently the "Al Gore 2000/John Kerry 2004 talking-points playbook" (aka, the "paint Republicans collectively as the 'Sheriff of Nottingham'-types who always rob from the poor to give to the rich" strategy) still carries weight.

Well, I hope it's not wishful thinking. Hopefully there will be some noticeable results. But this quote and article sounds too much like the Republicans 1996 (I think that was the year) "Contract with America", minus the cheesy title. It's always easy to talk a good game.
