Vince Young

Holy Crap. That was the best championship game I've ever seen. Vince Young absolutely amazes me. That dude can do it all. I'm not even sure if Michael Vick runs that well as a Quarterback. What a game! I love the fact that USC got beat. I've been waiting for them to go down for a while now. They should have lost to Notre Dame. Reggie Bush is obviously a great running back but he got shut down in this one. Wow.

Coach Carroll is a class act and you can tell by what he said about Texas after the game. On the other hand there is Leinart who is a conceited little prick. His quote, "well we couldn't tackle him (young) at the end but I don't care, I still think we're a better team." Who says that after they get beat by a great football team? What a poor loser! Someone needs to punch him in the face.

are you an idiot?

#11 is not an arrogant little prick. He went to the UT locker room afterwards to congratulate them. He is an absolute class act and has shown that repeatedly.

an arrogant little prick goes pro last year.

I would have felt the same way... because USC should have won it and they know it. It was mistakes by great players and coaches that lost the game, not Vince Young (as great as he played).

If you watch any bit of interviews, etc, you will clearly see that Young is a much more arrogant individual than ML or Bush (I mean a bit of arrogance when you are that good is fine).

Had it not been for a bonehead 4th and 2, we know this would not be a discussion. I could go on.

I am not even a USC fan, and could care less about this game. But, arrogant little prick that should be punched in the mouth????

They must have slipped some crack in your Happy Meal.

peace out.

apparently you didn't see the interview on the field with Leinart or you would be saying the same thing. No class in that interview. Yes, he came off as an arrogant prick and I would have liked to have punched him in the mouth for saying something so stupid right after the game so I stand by my statement.

Vince Young - 30 completion, 267 yards passing, 200 yards rushing, and 3 rushing touchdowns. I would say Vince Young had a little to do with their win.

"Had it not been for a bonehead 4th and 2, we know this would not be a discussion. I could go on."

I would say, had it not been for a great defensive stop by Texas, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Apples and Oranges.

as you could clearly see, if you had watched the game without the crack...

there were 19 seconds or so left on the clock at the time Young scored. Taking into account wind velocity, field size, time/ space variations, UT would have had much less of a chance to score in the allotted time if they had been pinned back inside their own 20.

yes, it was a good defensive stand. but it would have been negated by less aggressive coaching.

And if you are going to go for it, as Bill Simmons said, "If your season potentially rides on one first down, and you have a Heisman Trophy winning running back on your team ... well, you might want to have him on the field. It's a little unorthodox, I know. But it's probably a good idea."

(in tennis this is called an unforced error- your fault, not the exceelent play of the opponent).

Another unforced error would be Bush's attempted lateral, which had nothing to do with excellent defense of UT, Vince Young's skills or anything else but a brain fart by Bush.

(unforced error)

Lastly, Leinart's time out fiasco's early in the 2nd half, plus his last second attempt at heroics were boneheaded and had nothing to do with UT's superiority.

(unforced errors)

Seeing that I watched Leinart's interview after the game SOBER, I would add that his statement was abit different than what you heard (crack and burgers will do that to you).

He thinks they were the better team. So?

You forgot to mention that ML went to see UT in their locker room to congratulate them. Explain how a prick/ sore loser does that? hmmm?

How is feeling you were the better team being an arrogant prick?

I think some deep seeded USC hatred is at the core of this (one remark in the heat of the moment about being better than your competetition). Look at the big picture of ML before declaring him an arrogant prick.

you can go to espn and listen to what he said in the real postgame interview.

(and I am not even mentioning the poor call on the UT TD, when young was down- I am only mentioning USC errors, not officiating errors).

Seeing that they had UNFORCED ERRORS, of course he thinks they are a better team. They had won 34 in a row. They shot themselves in the foot, did not get shot in the foot (no matter how good Vince Young was).

I could continue to tear apart your remarks but will stop for the moment.

you are making me like USC. Stop It

I'm certainly not saying that USC didn't make several mistakes or that Young wasn't down but anyone can make excuses as to "why" they should have won. The point is, they didn't win and their mistakes alongside the amazing play of Vince Young lost them the game. Mistakes are part of the game, it's why many teams win and lose. Sure USC is a phenomonal team but they didn't win the National Title this year and Texas came out the best team. Anyone can speculate as to who is a better team but it doesn't matter now because Texas won and that's what people will remember. And as far as i'm concerned unforced errors have as much to do with how good of a team you are as anything else and clearly USC didn't prove they were the better team. I don't think that feeling your a better team is being a prick but to say it 4 minutes after the final snap of the game when Texas is celebrating in the manner he said it, is definitely being a prick and a poor sport. I tip my hat to him for congratulating the other team. Way to go Matt! And I have listened to Matt's incoherant, 1.2 GPA-esque postgame comments. very impressive.

by the way, Bill Simmons sees what Matt Leinart said as a "backhanded compliment" as well. No question about that. Plus he said, "I still think we're the better team" about three times total. Of which Bill Simmons says, "You're right Matt, we shouldn't even play this game."

I love Bill.
