"Christian hipsters tend not to like contemporary Christian music (CCM), or Christian films (except ironically), or any non-book item sold at Family Christian Stores. They hate warehouse churches or churches with American flags on stage, or churches with any flag on stage, really. They prefer “Christ follower” to “Christian” and can’t stand the phrases “soul winning” or “non-denominational,” and they could do without weird and awkward evangelistic methods including (but not limited to): sock puppets, ventriloquism, mimes, sign language, “beach evangelism,” and modern dance. Surprisingly, they don’t really have that big of a problem with old school evangelists like Billy Graham and Billy Sunday and kind of love the really wild ones like Aimee Semple McPherson."

Um...don't think this fits the classic hipster definition as pale skin, tight jeans and middle class disillusion are not mentioned.
eh, probably. But like most hipsters, i would never call myself one.
do you guys have 'fixie' hipsters where you live?
Oh we have 'fixie' hipsters! Glad to hear Portland is not alone!
um, maybe a bit. though i could do without aime simple mcpherson, goth, eyeliner and port.
crap, the authors christian hipsters love part pretty much nailed me. and like 80% of the other stuff.
on a related note, here's a great article on hipsterdom.. http://www.adbusters.org/magazine/79/hipster.html
I thought this was among the most useless things I had read in a while. My comments on his blog were under the title Hipster 1" in which I call him a Christian Doughebag.
good for you Rick.
thanks for the sarcasm
that's what I'm here for.
what's the deal with this rick guy? everything he writes is so negative. do you hate dustball or just everything he has to say?
just curious.
Hey Anonymous... if that is your REAL name (can I call you Anon?),
God forbid someone as an pinion contrary to that of the others here. I guess contrary opinions are = to hatred. Glad to know that.
So, I will show my LOVE to Dustin. And, Anon... I do Love Dustin (in a bromantic way), by changing my opinion to suit you...
Yes, I love this post. it captures everything I see and feel in my heart perfectly. I am so glad the writer put it this way. I am nothing more than a Christian Hipster. Now I can go back and watch for what is the next trendy thing I am supposed to do. Maybe that writer will inform me.
Is that negative enough for you, Bro?
peace
;)
