Oh man, I'm at Kelli's parents in Illinois right now and just saw a red-headed woodpecker up close with binoculars pecking away on this tree by the house. One of the coolest things I've ever seen. Apparently they have a really thick skull to protect their brain and eyes as they peck and a extremely long tongue to reach inside of the tree once they peck through it to eat the insects. These things are amazing!!!

Illinois! why don't guys swing over this way? Its only a 5 or 6 hour drive! By western standards that ain't nothin'!

If we had known we could have met you half way!

If you like that type of stuff Dustin, then you should watch the Planet Earth episodes on the Discovery Channel. Five years in the making. It is pretty interesting. And in HD, it is amazing.

By the way, "Meet Me Half Way" by Kenny Loggins. Great tune.

yeah, we've been watching Planet Earth and it's been amazing! I wish we had somewhere to watch it in HD, i'm sure that's incredible. My favorite creature so far has been the "Bird of Paradise". By far the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Anyone else see how they contort their bodies and dance to try to attract a female companion? So cool!

My favorite part is the footage of the snow leopard hunting in the Himalayas. How it can run like that on such an extreme slope is amazing.

The African wild dogs hunting in the Okavango Delta in Botswana was awesome too. You could actually see how they strategize from the air. They travel as a pack, then send off dogs to flank on the sides.

I made the comment about Kenny Loggins above as well.
