One Semester Down

Just one more class in about 20 minutes, one conversation with the professor that made me feel stupid last time to see if i can test out of Biblical Hermeneutics and take an advanced class, and one final on Wednesday and I'm all done! Feels good to have everything turned in. Such a freeing feeling, at least for a few weeks. Now there is only one thing on my mind....Harry Potter. I'm on book three and from what Kelli says this will be the best one thus far!

As for Portland today, holy crap, it's rainy and windy. I had to take the train and the bus to school today and even with an umbrella i'm soaked. My jeans are still wet from an hour ago and my socks are wet which I hate more than Florida and Ohio State playing for the championship.

But one thing I have to look forward to tonight is the Bears destroying the Rams tonight despite Rex Grossmans' ridiculously bad play. ESPN reported that Griese got about half of the snaps in practice this week, let's hope after a few turnover from Grossman which will probably happen in the first quarter, they give Griese a shot. Don't hear me wrong. I'm not saying Griese is extraordinary or will be able to turn it on like Romo has, he's Brian Griese for goodness sakes, but even if Griese does nothing offensively and just doesn't turn the ball over we would be in a better position!

Well, i'm going to go get some bad school coffee and finish off Pastoral Counseling. Speaking of, i haven't had an out of context quote from our professor for a while so here goes:

"Consistency is the hobgoblin of a small mind."

Still want Rex gone D? If he's pulled, you may get to the promise land, but you won't win. You guys might lose in the first round with Rex, but he's the only way you're going to win the Super Bowl.

I hate to be the one to bring this up Tyler, but that makes absolutely no sense.

What I'm saying is that Griese is not good enough to lead the Bears to a win in the Super Bowl even if he's playing his best football. And as good as your defense is, playing a team like the Saints or Cowboys' you need to have a pretty good offense to win, becase their offense' are so good.

Rex on the other hand, when he's on, is great. And if he's on, the offense will certainly be good enough to get past both of those teams. There is also a chance he could suck and you'd lose in the second round (First round Bye).

That's my point. Griese is the safe caretaker of the offence, and you won't be as stressed out when he's playing, but you also won't be celebrating a Super Bowl win either.

Rex gives the team its best chance to win the Super Bowl, and Lovie Smith knows that. It's why he's still starting.

My best attempt at an interpretation: Grossman's bad play could knock out Chicago in their first game, but at least you have a shot at winning the whole thing because he's much better than Griese when he's on and you'll need a passing game against whoever comes out of the AFC. With Griese, he probably won't make the same stupid mistakes, but he's just not nearly as good at Grossman at his best. Griese might be good enough to get Chicago out of the NFC, but a good AFC defense (San Diego, Baltimore) would shut down a Griese-led Bears offense.

Of course, if the Colts somehow make it out of the AFC, the whole argument is pointless. The Bears will just run for 300+ yards and Devin Hester will have 2 special teams TD's and you'll win going away. All you'll need is a QB who can walk, take a snap and hand the ball off.

Sorry. I started writing my comment before Tyler's reply was posted. Didn't mean for that to be repetitive.

Book 3 was my favorite until the 6th one came out... My favorite chapter of the entire series is in book 5 though... Go figure...
