hey if we're going to tax the hell out of smokers we should tax the hell out of drinkers too.
it only makes sense.
an alternate strategy would be to legalize marijuana so that we could generate new tax revenue off of that habit. then we could keep the rates on cigs and drinks reasonable.
I read this morning that Mr. Canon who is the main legislative sponsor on this bill is already backing down because of the pressure from his constituents. Give it another week and it will go away; at least to a reasonable level.
i don't mind them raising the tax on it. But to go from 2 dollars to 49 dollars is a bit absurd. How about some baby steps? I think he made a huge mistake with the enormous jump that might come back to bite him.
